When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life, for your strength. Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason to give thanks, the fault lies in yourself.

Happy Long + Easter Weekend Lovely Souls.

Whether you are religious / / spiritual or not, this weekend is a time for gratefulness + forgiveness. To be honest, everyday is. When we lose the ability to be thankful for each moment, each experience ( good or bad ) I feel that we lose the meaning of life. Each mountain OR valley provides us with the opportunity for g r o w t h. When we lose sight of that, and forget to drink that knowledge and lesson in, we stagnant. We stop growing and evolving into the soulful human being we were designed to be. We regress instead of moving forward and spreading our wings. Bad experiences only become scars if we let them be. These internal scars will only cause more fear, resentment, hurt, trouble, discomfort,

Thankfulness is the beginning of gratitude. Gratitude is the completion of thankfulness. Thankfulness may consist merely of words, but gratitude is shown in acts and is truly from the heart.

So this weekend as you are with family, loved ones, friends & MOST importantly strangers — people you don’t know. Express your thankfulness and kindness. We have a WHOLE lot to be thankful for.

AND forgive. Forgive others. In the end you are only hurting yourself. It’s not worth it. Grudges and hatred only breed negativity + disease in YOUR body. We have to learn to forgive and let go . . . one of lives greatest lessons is before you in these moments.

I guess what I’m trying to say is. . . let your light shine. BE YOU. Radiate the light within you, choose to become the person you want to be. It’s all a choice.

When you embody and except these facts the world will start to look very different. When it comes down to it, it’s all about LOVE. Love yourself + love others.

And with that I wish you a very HAPPY EASTER + Peaceful Long Weekend + lots of yummy / raw chocolate before you.

“Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson

We ALL suffer, every SINLGE day: worry, procrastination, anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, irritated, angry, frustrated, wishing things were different, comparing ourselves to others, worried we’re missing out, wishing other people would be different, feeling offended, loneliness, fear of failure, not wanting to do something, wishing we looked a certain way, angry at being controlled, wanting to find the perfect someone, wishing our partner was more perfect, stressed about finances, not wanting to think about problems, not knowing how to fix things, uncertain about choices, rushing from one task to the next, not liking our jobs….

Isn’t it exhausting just thinking about it? Yet those thoughts run through the majority of our population’s minds on the DAILY.

Lets just take a moment and B R E A T H E right now.

ALL of these problems are self-created.

They’re real, but our tricky minds have created them. The problems are in our heads, created by some ideal/fantasy/expectation of how we wished the world would be, or hope it will be but fear it won’t be. It exists in our heads no where else. Take a moment to think about that.

I live by the saying: HAPPINESS IS A CHOICE. Because it IS. Throughout my journey, I’ve learned this through lots of reflection, solitude and retraining my mind and body. We have the power and ability to CHOOSE how we handle a situation or relationship. We also have the power to change it, and for me that will always, always mean looking at the bright side of it and infusing it with positivity…the other option? Negativity. Nope. Won’t go there, it’s not worth it and never will be.

I want you to try this, THIS MOMENT: Close your eyes. Take a Deep Belly Breath & let all of that go for a moment, and just pay attention to the physical things around you right now. Your body, the light, sounds, the thing you’re sitting on, the things moving or sitting still around you. Don’t judge them against what they should be, but just observe what they actually are. Observe. Soak things in. Close your eyes and Breathe.

See this moment as it is, without all the things you’re worried/frustrated/angry about. LET GO of all of those things, and just see this moment.

It is perfectly imperfect, as it is.

Accept this moment. Cherish it. It is REAL, and it is wonderful. We are extremely lucky to have what is before us, so whenever those self-created worries seep in – acknowledge this moment – and know that it shall pass to.

Time heals all.

Living in this world that we do, we HAVE to learn how to do this. We MUST learn to meditate. Not only when we are alone in the mornings or at night, but throughout the day. Getting outside of your head is one of the biggest gifts you can give yourself.

Breathe in THIS MOMENT. Be present. Release those self created worries, fears, judgements – I promise you, they WON’T serve you OR anyone around you. Fill your mind + head space with goodness. Simple goodness. It’s not always easy, and it takes work ( yes work!!!) but boy oh boy are the outcomes worth it.

Life Changing.

This moment. wherever you are. Live it.

“Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson

Lets get grounded.

With the arrival of Spring, and the ability to soon run our feet through the luscious grasses that surround us, makes me joyous beyond belief.

We HAVE to remove ourselves from the chit chatter of the mind and reconnect with the present moment. What most people don’t know is that grounding, also known as earthing, is also a practice performed as a means of gathering electrical energy from the earth through physical touch. The earth is like a giant battery constantly being recharged by solar radiation and emitting this powerful source of energy and healing to everything and everyone it touches. By walking barefoot outside and digging your toes through the earth, the free electrons in Earth’s surface are absorbed directly into the skin. These electrons help regulate the systems of the body, improve internal functioning, restore overall balance, and promote restful sleep and sustained energy. Sound hokey? It’s the farthest thing from it. Nature surrounds us for a reason

The same way we recharge our cell phones, the cells in our body rejuvenate through contact with the ground’s natural electrical pulses.

While it would be amazing to kick of your shoes right now and frolic with abandon across fields (my park is still brown! Come on April Showers), through streams, and over mountains, most of us do not have access to so many of nature’s beauties.

So how can we achieve these healing benefits without touching nature’s beautiful soil?

Fill your body with PLANTS that are pure, close to the ground, and in their natural state. Get to know these plants. Touch them, smell them, and focus on the array of textures and flavors as they enter your body. Let this practice be a means of connecting you to the earth and sky, a means of reawakening your connection with the earth through your food. When you make a salad are you truly focusing on the healing properties that are

With the warmer temperatures that are soon to bless us, and the greenery that will begin bloom and bud – unplug, take your shoes off and TRULY connect. Ground yourself to one the most precious and breathtaking things on our planet – Nature. It will always be there for you, and if you lean in, and ground yourself in HER, you will be blessed with bountiful experiences, feelings, relationships, opportunities and connections.

Happy Friday!

What’s in your Fridge/Kitchen?

Let’s get personal.

Having a look into my fridge or someone else’s can tell me A LOT about them, more than they would like to reveal, without them even knowing (don’t get me wrong, I’m not a fridge nazi, but it’s my mission and job to help you start making changes to how you fill it). I fully believe that what you put into your body is what you will get out. Not only in health, but in life. The way we nourish ourselves is a direct reflection to how we feel on the inside and what we think about ourselves. Having a bad day? You don’t reach for a green smoothie or juice, it’s often cookies and chocolate. Instead of looking within and using other coping mechanisms – a walk, a bath, phone/skype date with a best friend, reading, listening to music and breathing, movie out, people reach for food and open their fridge. Often standing there NOT even hungry, yet they are looking for fulfillment. Something to FILL their insides, their emotions and their feelings. Comfort. When in reality food will never, ever fill that emptiness…it can only deepen it. IF you start to stock your fridge & cupboards with health, vibrancy, whole foods you won’t be given that other option. I always tell my clients that if you WANT a treat don’t keep it at home – because if it’s in your house you.will.eat.it. Food speaks to you, it calls you, it can tempt you – this is where and how we have to break the addictions. Having raw, dark chocolate at home that you have a square of every night is A-OK, but when cookies, chips, sweets start overtaking your pantry and fridge it’s time to not only look at your outside environment, but also within…to truly nourish yourself you have to love yourself deeply enough to make these changes.

Here are the items that I will ALWAYS have on hand and some basics that everyone should have, so you aren’t given options to indulge (I’m all for indulgent treats, but where and how often is the question!) //

-Leafy Greens, my love – romaine, kale, swiss chard, spinach – I always have an abundance. Salads, smoothies, juices there beauty and list for uses is endless. If I don’t have any greens in my fridge, then you aren’t looking at mine! This should be the foundation of your fridge and kitchen. When you start with greens you add everything else on from there. Healthy carbs/grains, plant or animal protein, healthy fats…Start green, and lets fill in the gaps.

-Red Peppers

-Hemp Seeds (plant protein)

-Flax Seeds (Omega 3)

-Chia seeds (Omega 3, fiber, healthy fats)

-Nuts/seeds ( almonds, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds)

-Sweet Potatoes

-Superfoods (maca, goji berries, mulberries, camu camu, chlorella, Vitamineral Greens + a few more goodies!)

-Apple Cider Vinegar

-Flax/hemp oil

-Sun-dried tomatos

-Coconut Oil

-Hormone Free Milk if you drink dairy, or for me it’s homemade Almond or Hemp seed mylk

-Unsweetened Yogurt (add fruit + natural sweetener of choice) or Coconut Yogurt

-Dried or canned beans (whichever ones are most convenient – just try to get organic ones without any salt, and if there is salt give them a good rinse before consuming)

-Spices + himalayan salt

-Raw cocao + Cocao nibs (to make hot chocolate with as a treat and to incorporate the nibs into a healthy trail mix)

-Herbs – parsley, cilantro and dill are my go-to’s, but there are SO many to enjoy and discover

-Spirulina (for smoothies)

-Broccoli/Cauliflower/Brussels/ anything from the brassica family

-Gluten-Free Pasta + Organic Tomato sauce with LOTS of veggies for a quick lunch/dinner

-IF you eat and enjoy cheese, Goat’s Milk Feta, or any Goat’s Milk cheese is the best option!

-Soba Noodles

-Brown Rice

-Nut Butters (good snack to have with fruit or on Sprouted Toast)

-Sprouted/Whole grain wraps

-Hummus (homemade is easiest + cheaper!)

-Flax/Quinoa crackers

-An abundance of teas

-Hormone Free + Free-Range eggs

+++ this should be a good start! Again, I want to stress that you are fully allowed to have treats + sweets, but if you know you can’t have chips, sweets, cookies, cakes in the house because you will be temped to eat them, then simply don’t buy them. Go out for dessert with friends, buy a ReallY fabulous single serving piece of cake on the weekend to enjoy as a treat and savor every bite, have REALLY dark chocolate on hand at home (80-90%) to have nightly with tea…or make a healthy treat and share it with others!

I want to help you all live a life of health, happiness and passion. The first step is looking within, and knowing and realizing that you are worthy. Worthy of love, nourishment, health and living your purpose…

Abigail O’Neill is a superwoman, supermom, superfriend, superfood guru, supergorgeous chocolate goddess and supermodel to top it all off. I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting her in person, YET (but will one day, SOON!), as we met through this crazy thing we call the internet, over 5 years ago! We connected instantly, and even without ever meeting her, I consider her a beautiful friend of mine. You will witness throughout this interview just how special she is, words escape me to describe her gorgeous soul. She embodies the term, beauty from the inside out, as her heart is pure gold, yet she RADIATES like no one else I’ve ever met. Not only is she a mom of 3 (!) SERIOUSLY ABI, she is a model, which only came to fruition after the birth of her children (any and all dreams are possible). She is such an inspiration to me, as she forages through her beautiful Australian Oasis picking fruits, nuts and greens straight out of her back yard. She LIVES Organically to the core, and feeds her family nothing but pure, organic, superfood goodness. If it didn’t come from the earth, it will not be consumed, something I whole-heartedly believe and live.

ON top of this all she is a recent author, having written the insanely, supergorgeous book MODEL CHOCOLATE, which I was blessed enough to receive a copy straight from her beautiful hands. It is the ONLY chocolate book I would ever care to own – gluten free, vegan, raw, sugar-free, dairy free & nut free (some recipes), yet still wildly and intoxicatingly delicious. Her recipes not only envelope you in elation of pure, raw cocao, goodness, but they feed your body with goodness as they are pure health in every single way. Didn’t think guilt-free chocolate exists? IT DOES in the form of this book, and each recipe is made with pure love, heart and soul.

With easter coming up, I’m telling you this book is a must – you can download it online OR purchase the hardcopy (which I highly suggest you do). It will be a book you have FOREVER – Purchase the beauty HERE

For even FURTHER inspiration beyond this interview, her GORGEOUS blog is not to be bypassed. I’ve read every.single.post and believe me it will inspire you to live a life of HEALTH – Read more HERE

Oh, and she surfs!!! My true soul sister. Read more to become inspired beyond your wildest organic dreams. . .

Hi Abigail, tell us a little bit about yourself! Where did you grow up, how did you get to where you are now and what are your favorite hobbies ? Hi Life By Leese peoples! I actually moved around a lot growing up, all within Australia though. My mum is Portuguese and my Dad all Aussie. I have been busy since those early years; getting married, having children, growing wheatgrass, baking bread and all manner of things, organic gardening and lately enjoying a bit of modelling and lots of inspirational sharing via abigailoneill.net as well as helping to indulge many through my latest book creation – Model Chocolate. (abigailoneill.net/model-chocolate)

How has being a mom, wife + model shaped who you are as a person? It’s kept me very real as I did it all back to front, so I’ve spent a lot of time before starting modelling being an ‘Aussie battler’ so to speak! It’s a phrase meaning you know what it is to struggle a little bit. Being a young mother has kept me very young at heart! Becoming a model has allowed me to experience some pretty cool things, and express my artistic self too.

IF you could be ANYTHING what would it be? Everything I am now, PLUS a (do it five hours a day) Yogi <3 Oh I so wish to be flexible and bendy!

What inspires you on a daily basis? Instagram. Love that place. I’m a very visual person, and I love taking pictures and seeing pictures.

Would you consider yourself a healthy foodie or do you try to maintain a balance between healthy eating and indulging (80% healthy, 20% treats)? Yes and no. I don’t believe in cheating ever. I’m an all healthy kind of person. Good thing is my whole diet is nourished by the most decadently delicious creations, so there’s no need to indulge in things which make me feel lethargic or guilty afterwards. Model Chocolate is a reflection of that.

What is your non-negotiable when it comes to your diet? Chocolate is an everyday occurrence. Apart from that of course, lots of raw food, including superfoods. Greens (piles of these please!), fresh organic fruits and vegetables.

What does a day in the life of Abigail look like? (foodwise) Mountains of fresh fruits. Green juice or green smoothie or vegetable juice if I’m lucky, large fresh organic salad at least once, my chocolate, sweet or regular potato chippies (dry baked on racks, love these!) or sushi or a rice dish, legumes maybe once or twice weekly, softly poached organic eggs occasionally. Did I say chocolate? Haha. Superfoods such as goji berries, bee pollen, maqui berry powder, acai, maca root, spirulina, wheatgrass, incaberries, green tea, yerba mate, chia seeds, lots of others.

How do you manage to stay so fit and healthy, especially when you are so, so busy? Please share with us your dietary + fitness philosophy I don’t. Realistically this has been the hardest thing for me to make happen!! It’s a wonder with all the chocolate I’ve had to taste test and live on that I’m not all blubbery. See the chocolate actually works! (Cacao is known to boost metabolism)
So the fitness side of me is getting a major makeover this year. I’ve been so busy with my book the last 3 years, and something has to give, only I mustn’t make any more excuses, really it only takes 20mins to go for a walk! :) I do love to surf, and do this with my family every week at least once. I’ve started practicing yoga in the mornings again 20mins 2 x weekly, and just started doing some power walking on the other days! <3

Favorite workout/sport? Surfing!

Top health tip? Alkalize.

Introvert or extrovert? Definitely extrovert.

What we’d be surprised to find in your refrigerator? ‘The Beetroot Stuff’ its so amaze. This awesome raw beetroot dip/spread/stuff that you whiz up in the blender and put on EVERYTHING. The recipe’s on my blog.

Do you drink green juices and smoothies? What is your all time favorite? Huge yes. My favourite lately (I have many) has been a combo of banana, frozen raspberries, coconut water, baby spinach leaves, frozen mango from my tree, and raw vegan protein powder by Sunwarrior. I then top the whole smoothie with about ½ cup fresh passionfruit pulp and drink. A-MAZZE.

What are your healthy food staples and ones that you eat everyday? Raw chocolate. Atm, fresh organic bananas. Mangoes, passionfruit or some exotic fruit, avocados, superfoods like goji berries and cacao nibs, coconut, rocket or other leafy greens, and potato, brown rice or quinoa. I eat very seasonally. Through Summer there were so many tomatoes at the organic markets, so I practically lived on them! I think it really gives your body a chance to immerse itself in the nutrients of that particular food.

What are your top 5 beauty products that you use everyday? Cacao butter, coconut oil, essential oils of Frankincense, and lavender, and a bath salts recipe found in my book, so amazing to soak life’s worries away!!

Artist who inspires you? Love food artists. Also fashion, nature. Nature is the most inspiring art ever.

Top 3 Favorite books that had an impact on your life? Back to Eden (because i read it when I was 14!), Vogue Italia – the first time I saw that I was in la la land, and The Bible, never fails to dissapoint.

Top indulgence? Agghh! Going to sound like a broken record Lisa haha my CHOCOLATE! :) Nah seriously is. Maybe one day I’ll move onto something less intensely captivating.

Favorite city/country to travel to? The ones I have yet to see.

Favorite scent/perfume? 100% pure organic essential oils. Loving Jasmine with vanilla and mint!! Soo good.

Favorite designer? Mary Katrantzou was in 2012/13, this year I haven’t had much of a chance to look at anything!

Ultimate healthy meal: Greens from my garden with herbed dried organic black olives, pesto, oven dry baked potatoes and The Beetroot Stuff.

Ultimate decadent meal: Chocolate fondue! With strawberry guavas, grapes, mango, kiwifruit, jackfruit, persimmons, blueberries and strawberries.

Your favorite, not so healthy treat: Don’t have one.

Greatest movie of all time: The Sound of Music – I still love it. Closely followed by the Titanic in which I cried for 24 hours.

3 things on your bucket list: Yoga myself daily, travel to Europe, write another incredulous cookbook.

Latest inspiration: This interview!!! I need to go do some Yoga now.

How do you think we can make the world a better place? Love more, consume less, eat real food, organic, fairtrade food, especially our chocolate choices, if we all stopped buying non-organic fairtrade chocolate ever, ever again it would really help the earth!

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? In our beautiful home here on the North Coast of Australia (near Byron Bay – pretty hard to leave that!), only it would have a new kitchen and a whole thriving organic blueberry orchard. We would break it up with stints to Europe, surfing daily and I’d certainly be creating something. Who knows what – I live to create!

(with her supergorgeous daughter, Charlotte)

Message you would like to send out to the world: If you’ve found this paragraph, keep reading. You are beautiful, you are human, you have a purpose here, you have something to share. From the bottom of my heart I send you love, and inspiration to be your best self! Do it. It’s all about the little choices… and chocolate. Of course.

Thank you beautiful Abi! You are a true light in this world, and I love you dearly.

“Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come.
We have only today. Let us begin.”
―Mother Teresa

Everything in life happens for YOU, not to you. You are not a VICTIM of life. Everything happens at exactly the right moment, neither too soon nor too late.

TRULY pay attention to your outlook on life. Every day you can either regret or rejoice; it’s your choice. When you choose the latter, life opens doors to amazing experiences you will likely remember forever.

Take time to figure yourself out. Take time to realize what you want and need. Take time to take risks. Take time to love, laugh, cry, and learn. Life is shorter than it often seems. Do these NOW – your life will be MUCH richer for IT ( not they are all FREE!) //

Accept every unique piece of yourself. – The secret to happiness and success is the acceptance of yourself. You will never become who you want to be if you rely on everyone else to qualify you. Own yourself completely, just the way you are, flaws and all. If you CAN’T love yourself first, you will never be able to fully love someone.

Make yourself a priority. – There are only a few people in this world who will stay 100% true to you, and YOU should be one of them!

Take positive action. – Don’t sit back and let things happen to you. Go out and happen to things. You are what you do, not what you say you’ll do. Actions will ALWAYS speak louder than words! Sometimes all you need to do, is do SOMETHING…BUT sitting around and thinking will not get you anywhere.

Do the work. – In life, you don’t get what you wish for; you get what you work for. Do what’s right, not what’s easy. Your dreams are worth it.

Focus on priorities. – Don’t be busy; be productive. The purpose of life is to live a life of purpose. Truly FOCUS on what matters and let go of what does not. ..

Take calculated risks. – All growth begins at the end of your comfort zone. So take a step today…fear will cripple you. Make the choice to step anyways. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step…

Keep on stepping. – Focus on the small things you can do right now, not the big things you can’t. SMALL changes can & DO make a BIG difference in the end.

Give yourself all the approval you need. – If you want to achieve greatness, stop asking for everyone’s approval. You don’t need anyone’s approval to be happy or to follow your heart. Your heart will never lie. Learn to listen to it + your intuition. It’s a skill, and it’s not always easy, but boy is it worth it.

Fight hard for what you believe in. – Great strength comes from overcoming what others think is impossible.

Allow life to happen like it’s supposed to. – You can’t force things to happen; you can only drive yourself crazy trying. There’s a time and place for everything. When it’s meant to be, it will be. Work hard, be patient. Patience being the key word here . . . it’s HARD to practice it, but it’s a daily must. Without it you WILL drive yourself crazy!

Embrace every experience for what it’s worth. – For everything you have lost, you have gained something else.

Be mindful in tough times. – Keep calm when things go wrong. You may feel weak, but your spirit is strong. It will always get you through. . . as will love, compassion + kindness. To yourself and others.

Admit your frustrations and face your fears. – Sometimes what you don’t want is exactly what you need. Easier said then done. BUT it’s true, don’t let your fear cripple you. It can hands down STOP you from pursuing what you’re meant to do in life. Feel the fear and DO IT anyways.

Enjoy yourself. – Be positive and smile right now, not because everything is good, but because you can SEE the good side of everything and everyone. ALWAYS believe that everyone is good, no matter who they are.

Look around in appreciation of your remarkable life. – WE have SO. MUCH. TO. BE. THANKFUL. FOR. If you are reading this – have access to a computer, shelter, food, family, friends, freedom. LIFE IS GOOD. Good or bad, just smile. Don’t be negative when you have so much to be positive about. Life is “give and take.” Believe it, right now someone is praying and hoping for the things you take for granted. . .

Take guilt-free breaks. – Find your balance between activity and recovery. Learn to let go and relax when you need a break. When I write my 3 major things to get done for the day, underneath I write my reward for completing the task. You NEED this balance.

Enjoy the company of those who lift you higher. – Know that it’s less important to have more friends and more important to have real ones. Ones that would drop anything to be by your side. Be around the people who make you smile!

Listen at least as much as you talk. – The greatest gift you can give someone. In the end, there is only one rule for being a good talker and a good friend: listening.

Let love win. – Love conquers all. Share your love. Period. If you feel it express it.

Learn to forgive without resistance. – Never let an argument last, never hold a grudge; both will make your heart heavy. Forgiveness is one of the primary keys to happiness. SIMPLY let go . . . it was in the past and it won’t serve you RIGHT NOW to hold on. You are only hurting yourself as you can’t control how the other person handled the situation. Be you, forgive, and whole-heartedly release it into the Universe.

Act out of kindness. – Your beliefs alone don’t make you a better person, your behavior does. Learn to give without any reason. This doesn’t have to be something material or it could. It could be an ear to listen, a tea date with a friend in need, buying someone something small that they need. . . whatever it is GIVE back.

Uphold your strength of character. – Character is how you treat those who can do nothing for you. So today, and every day, do something nice for someone who will never be able to repay you.

Give the strangers around you a chance. – Be friendly. A simple hello could lead to a million things. There is a purpose for everyone you will ever meet – power to think about it, but so true. Everyone we might shapes us in some way. Unplug your earphones and be OPEN.

Learn from the past, but don’t live in it. – Don’t stress about the closed doors behind you. New doors are opening every moment and you will see them if you keep moving forward. . . Remember one step at a time. You don’t have to climb the entire staircase right now. Little by little. . .

Worry less. – BE PRESENT. Stop over thinking and worrying. Life is too short for that.

Pay attention to the present. – Right now is life – the only life you have. Don’t miss it.

DO what makes you happy and be with whoever makes you smile, often. LIFE is too short to just float on by, to not take risks, forgive, be present, spend time with the ones you love, give back, have an adventure, AND to follow what society tells you is right/wrong . . . go against the grain. AND LOVE deeply and passionately. Love will conquer ALL.

Happy Monday!

It’s spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you’ve got it, you want – oh, you don’t quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so! ~Mark Twain

SPRING is here, at least here in TORONTO! I hope it’s wherever you are too…

With a change of season, comes a change in dressing + wardrobe.

I have to admit I’m a winter + spring + fall dresser…I’m not so much a summer lover, in the sense of dressing. I don’t love bright colors, patterns or florals. So I find ways to stick to my basics, without feeling like a summer ‘clown’! Which is NOT a bad thing, at all. It’s just not me. I do embrace *some* summer loves, and I adore the summer whites, beiges + lace/eyelet shirts/dresses/blouses.

I also don’t believe you have to go out and BUY heaps and heaps of stuff. It’s ALL about working with what you have, getting rid of those ‘once off summer buys’, cheap basic tank tops I’m talking to you! I think basics that you wear all.time.time can be replaced every spring/summer. LET’S do a spring cleaning of your wardrobe, this is TRULY the best time to do it (IF you are in Toronto & need help with this, THIS is my speciality! Contact me, I would LOVE to help). To make way for new relationships, growth, love, opportunities, meetings, WE must get rid of the old. The energy, physicality of holding onto something, will be negative, and to allow ourselves to fully bloom, with MUST let go. . .

What are you holding on to? Physically, mentally, spiritually, emotionally. . . it’s time to think about this, and release. Allow the warmth of the sun + soft spring breezes help you with this.

It’s a new season & it’s time to bloom beauties.

One of my favorite topics + things on the planet is GREENS. My family + friends can attest to my obsession around greens, but after you have felt the power of these perfect + potent plants, especially in the form of PURE. ORGANIC. FRESH PRESSED Green Juice. . . you would be too. Add in a scoop of Vitamineral Greens, and I swear once you drink it, hulk like tendencies will over take your body. I feel so, so alive and everything about my body from the inside out simply glows.

But what makes our veggies so green?

I know most people have heard of chlorophyll, but most probably don’t actually know what it is, or the health benefits this bad boy can have on your body. So, I thought I would shine a little light on this a m a z i n g creation. Light being the operative word, chlorophyll is basically liquid sunshine. It is the pigment in the plants that allows them to absorb light from the sun and convert it into usable energy. The name derives from the Greek word chloros (meaning green) and phyllon (meaning leaf). It is a green pigment found in almost all algae, plants and cyanobacteria. So lets sink our teeth into its benefits + magical properties. . .

Chlorophyll is a cleansing and purifying agent, which stimulates the bowels.

A powerful detoxification effect on the body

Rich in enzymes that promote quick rejuvenation of our cells

High in Amino acids

Extracts toxins form the liver and improves liver function – when our liver is happy, so are we

Regulator of calcium

Helps break addiction

Alkalizes the body – This is optimal health. We want + need an alkaline body to be happy, healthy and ultimately ward of disease, infection + serious illness.

Fight infection

Helps reverse protein-deficient anemia

Protection from cancer

Helps skin disorders ( acne, rosacea, psoriasis, etc…)

It helps to rebuild and replenish our red blood cells, boosting our energy and increasing our wellbeing almost instantly (aka Hulk Like Tendencies).

It is effective against high blood pressure.

Powerful anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and wound healer.

It helps to neutralise the pollution that we breathe in all day everyday.

It efficiently delivers magnesium and helps the blood in carrying oxygen to all your cells and tissues.

It is an effective deodorizer to reduce bad breath, urine, faecal waste and body odour.

Also with vitamins A, C and E it helps to neutralise free radicals that damage healthy cells.

These are only SOME of the benefits chlorophyll can have on your body. I promise you it’s pure m a g i c. You can never get enough, and I strongly advise you to eat. more. greens. Generally speaking, the darker the green color, the more chlorophyll, so dark leafy greens are a THE BEST, especially dino kale and other kale varieties, swiss chard and darker greens like arugula and dandelion. Adding herbs like parsley and cilantro are also great ways to spruce up your salads and increase chlorophyll content in your diet. Blue-green algae such as spirulina and chlorella are especially high in chlorophyll, as are all sprouts (one of my favorite foods!). Wheatgrass has one of the highest sources of chlorophyll available, so get your wheatgrass shots in!

Simple take away – EAT, DRINK, JUICE, CONSUME, DEVOUR, ADD, GROW, MORE Greens to your life ! Instead of focusing on things you ‘have’ to take out + not eat. Simply start adding more greens into your life – you will feel SO good that the other ‘addictions’ will slowly fall away. . . Crowd out the bad by simply adding in more good. Your taste buds will begin to change, your skin will literally GLOW and when you start to feel the LIQUID sun you get from each bite and sip, you will never want to go back.

Some Musings for a Monday Morning…

simplistic, healing, life-giving.

-eat raw as much as possible! It’s best for our DNA + Cells + Optimal Health

-buy a cold press juicer. It will be life changing

-stay in the present moment (the now) as much as you can

-make sure your breathing is full + deep. . . . best detox possible. Just breathe, its WAY too overrated

-love YOURSELF unconditionally or you can never love anyone else unconditionally

-sweat + move daily. Dance, yoga, long walks, sauna, pilates, biking, sports, running… mix up your workouts as much as possible for your body + brain.

-embrace your inner 5 year old. . . find gleeful joy in the small things. Be as child-like as possible

-judgement is so boring! Don’t judge.

-take nothing (not even stuff directed towards you) personally

-dry body brush for your lymph system + skin + glow

-on nights where you are staying in try to go to bed by 10pm. . . your most optimal times to sleep are between 10pm-2am

-be in nature as much as possible

-get rid of your TV + read MORE (I don’t own a TV, and love it). People + books feed my soul

-dancing is not a luxury it’s imperative. Even if alone in the morning before you start your day – DANCE

-ANYTHING can be a meditation. Walking, yoga, cooking, being intimate with your love, taking our the trash. BE PRESENT

-strive to raise your vibration daily

-talk to strangers

-the biggest gift you can give someone is your time, listen to people. Truly listen

-express gratitude every step of the way, you have it GOOD

-share your feelings with your family, friends, loves, they don’t always know how you are feeling. And sometimes it’s just nice to hear. You are an amazing ___________ and I love you dearly.

-call people, stop texting

-give thanks daily

-SMILE + LAUGH. I met a homeless man on the street yesterday coming back from yoga & the only thing he asked me to do was SMILE for him, he said it made his week. He then proceeded to tell me jokes to make me laugh – he said laughter can cure all… He asked for my e-mail and I gave him that and my phone #, we then rode the streetcar in the direction of my home. He told me life stories and I listened. Sometimes someone just needs a smile and an ear to listen. Never forget the simple things in life, they mean the MOST.

I had the pleasure of meeting the beautiful Rachel Alexander when I lived in NYC, through one of my besties, Anne-Marie Van Dijk, another International Top Model, who like Rachel possess an other-wordly quality and beauty about her. Upon meeting Rachel she is extremely striking, but what gets me, and what will always do so, is that her beauty truly radiates from the inside out. Having graced top magazines and international campaigns, her laid-back style, personality, zest for the deeper meaning of life and tomboy tendencies (a girl after my own heart!), has led her down a path of separating the ‘fashion world’ with the real world. It’s extremely easy for people to get sucked into the vortex that is FASHION, but with a heart of gold like herself, she has remained grounded, radiant and on a mission to allow her creative soul and spirit to impact her next journey, the people around her, and the world.

Thank you Rach for your beautiful words, spirit and gracious heart!

How do you think we can make the world a better place?

I just did a transcendental meditation course and it was life changing. I wish there was more of that in schools. It doesn’t matter how great you are in calculus if you cant connect with yourself and others.

Message you would like to send out to the world:

I love this quote by Mother Teresa “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”

What a beauty! She has inspired me to do a transcendental meditation course and go to Costa Rica, surf and stay in a treehouse! Thanks Rach x
