Abi and I share three obsessions; animals, skin and healthy eating! My love for dogs, and animals are out of this world, you all know my obsession and love for skin and all that it encompasses, and well, healthy eating, is my thing. I know if we were to ever meet, we wouldn’t run out of things to talk about!
She further possesses a love for living a very healthy, and balanced life despite the fact that she’s in a new city almost every week. We all know how difficult it is to be eating healthy on the go, especially when traveling across time zones constantly. Not to mention the endless airports, airplanes (they suck the life out of you!), and living out of a hotel room with no kitchen! Abi has managed to find this down to earth, and beautiful balance to her hectic lifestyle. She’s dedicated, and makes it a priority!
The key to anything really – knowing the value of something, dedicating your energy towards it, and making it a priority. It’s not always easy, but it’s oh so worth it.
I came across this beautiful and genuine soul when I stumbled across her blog, Model & More
, which she started with her girlfriends, and fellow models. Abi runs the beauty side of it, while her friends expand on topics such as health, travel and culture!
I was not only struck by her stunning beauty, but her honest and chill vibe. It also seemed like we had a lot in common, so I wanted to dig a little deeper! Here she is, the lovely Abi Fox,
Hi Abi, tell us a little bit about yourself! Where did you grow up, what inspires you, how did you get into modeling, and what do you love to do/your passions?
I am originally from a really small town in Yorkshire in the north of England, it’s in the middle of the countryside. I now live between London and Gothenburg, Sweden, but before that I lived in NYC for 4 years!
I was scouted to do modeling on a trip to London with my family when I was 14, but it wasn’t until I was 20 that I started modeling full time.
I travel constantly for work so when I have any down time there is nothing that I love more than being at home in Sweden or in London and just being on the sofa or spending time with the people closest to me. I also love to cook and be out doors in the country or by the sea.
What would you want someone to know about you straight off the bat?
I would love to know if someone was an animal lover straight away, we would then for sure get along!!
Would you consider yourself a healthy foodie or do you try to maintain a balance between healthy eating and indulging (80% healthy, 20% treats)?
I would say that I maintain a balance between eating healthy and indulging once in a while. I don’t cut anything completely out of my diet but I really limit refined foods and dairy. I usually cook very healthy food at home and then choose what I want when I am eating in a restaurant.
What is your non-negotiable when it comes to your diet?
I take a probiotic every day without fail.
How do you manage to stay so fit and healthy? Please share with us your dietary philosophy/secrets?
When I’m at home I don’t find it difficult at all to stay fit and healthy because I have the gym (and the energy) close by plus I love to cook healthy food with my family or friends. To me I think that’s the key, incorporating the people I want to spend time, cooking together or taking a gym class with each other. It’s really good to motivate each other and it becomes fun.
My favourite workouts are spinning, Pilates and resistance work with small weights.
My top health tip would be to drink warm water with lemon and a splash of apple cider vinegar first thing in the morning to kickstart your digestive system. Also try to include fermented foods or drinks in your diet everyday, such as kombucha, sauerkraut or kimchi.
I am both an introvert and extrovert, a little of each! I’m more of an extrovert when I’m at work and on set, I bounce of other people’s energy and I love it when everyone can open up and we become like one big family. In my personal life however I can be more of an introvert. I don’t know why that is but I become quite shy. I keep the people I trust and love close and those are the people I really open up to the most.
What we’d be surprised to find in your refrigerator?
You would be surprised to find my moisturiser in the fridge. In the morning when I put it on I just feels it wakes me up a little more.
Do you drink green juices and smoothies? What is your all time favorite?
I drink both green juices and smoothies but mainly smoothies. My favourite is a green smoothie with avocado.
What are your healthy food staples and ones that you eat everyday?
Quinoa, chickpeas (garbanzo beans), eggs, coconut oil, Brazil nuts, green leafy veg. I pretty much eat all those every day.
What are your top 5 beauty products that you use?
My top 5 beauty products would be;
Biologique recherché p50.
Sister and sister coconut oil lip balm with rose and cardamon.
Trish Mcevoy cleansing beauty balm.
Rose hip oil.
A good quality Vitamin C serum.
How do you maintain a healthy balance in your life when you are always traveling?
I can struggle to stay healthy whilst traveling. There is often a lack of healthy options in airports and remote locations so I travel with snacks such as nuts and seeds and drink ALOT of water. I also make sure I eat a big healthy meal before I embark on a journey to keep me satisfied. Sometimes I struggle to motivate myself to work out when I’m travelling as I can get very tired, so instead of doing an intense routine in the gym, I do about 30 to 45 mins of ballet beautiful in my hotel room. I find it more relaxing and the stretches involved help my body after being cramped on a plane for hours.
Top 3 Favorite books that had an impact on your life?
My favourite books are;
The secrets of the longest living people by Sally Beare; I found this book fascinating and it educates you on other cultures and their diets plus way of life.
Girl on a train by Erin Cressida Wilson. I wouldn’t say this had any impact on my life but I just finished reading it and thoroughly enjoyed it.
And Lisa Lovatt-Smith’s memoir Who Knows Tomorrow. This book opens your eyes to the happenings in the orphanages in Africa through Lisa, who is the ex editor of Spanish Vogue, experiences.
My top indulgence is buying beauty products. I’m addicted to skincare and a huge product hoarder.
The best vacation you’ve ever taken?
I just went to Costa Rica with my boyfriend and it was definitely one of my favourite trips. It has everything… good weather, nice people, nature, beaches and AMAZING coffee. It can either be an adventurous holiday or super relaxing and we had the perfect mix of both.
My favourite perfume is Le labo lys 41. I am always asked what I’m wearing when I use it.
My favourite designer is an English one called David Koma.
I love a big rainbow bowl with a lot of different coloured vegetables dressed in extra virgin olive oil and sea salt. I add some sort of pulse for protein too, that would be my favourite healthy meal.
A full English Sunday roast would be my favourite most decedent meal, and a good Indian would be a close 2nd. I’m a true Brit in that way.
Your favorite, not so healthy treat:
I am more of a salty food person than sweet so anything like crisps (chips) would be my favourite unhealthy snack.
Greatest movie of all time:
Not the most groundbreaking movie but I really love, “Love Actually” because it reminds me of home and Christmas.
3 things on your bucket list:
The top 3 things on my bucket list all include travel.
Number 1 would be to see the northern lights in Iceland or northern Norway.
Number 2 would be to travel to Japan.
Number 3 would be to travel around Indonesia.
I don’t have a latest inspiration as such, I take inspiration from a number of different sources such as instagram, an article or my friends on a daily basis whether that be for fashion, health or my wellbeing. However I am in the middle of decorating my apartment in Sweden so Pinterest has become a huge source of inspiration for me in that way lately.
How do you think we can make the world a better place?
I think we can make the world a better place by making more of a conscious effort to recycle, educate ourselves on the ongoing struggles that some countries have and donate or volunteer with organisations that help, be kind to each other.
Message you would like to send out to the world:
The message I’d like to send out to the everyone in this world is take time for yourself. Take time out each day to reset your mind and invest in the relationships that mean the most to you.
